Position Title: Dental Assistant
Primary Service Center: Springfield, Ohio (South Limestone Location)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Work Hours: Part-Time or Full-time available, some evening may be required, No Fridays (office closed on Friday)
Position Summary and Responsibilities: Full-time position responsible for assisting the Dental Practice Manager, dentist, and hygienists in the care of treatment of patients. Performs duties independently, including polishing and other duties, according to certification authorization. Performs duties in the fields of reception, chair-side assisting, inventory, and records.

Assist the Dentist and hygienist in chair-side procedures routinely done in a general dental practice.

Responsible for the preparation and setting up of instruments, materials, and equipment necessary for each procedure.

Responsible for following all OSHA Standards, sterilization of instruments, and the cleaning and routine maintenance of the clinic and equipment.

Order supplies and materials. Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials as well as maintaining a thorough and accurate documentation of inventory.

Mechanical polishing of the coronal portion of the teeth.

Placement and removal of rubber dam

Taking of preliminary impressions of teeth for study models

Topical application of anti-cariogenic agents

Oral hygiene instruction with an intra-oral component

Dietary counseling relative to dentistry

Application of materials topically to prepare the surface of the teeth for pit and fissure sealants

Application of pit and fissure sealants
-
Application of topical anesthetics
-
Application of desensitizing agents
-
Whitening of the coronal portion of the teeth using tray-based systems; including the application of a liquid dam if required for these tray-based systems

Polishing restorations
-
Oral irrigation

Performs other related duties as assigned.

High school graduate.

Successful completion of ADA and/or OH DAII program preferred.

Previous dental assisting experience preferred.

X-ray certification preferred.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff. Also possesses an ability to motivate patients.

Ability to prepare and maintain charts, records, logs, and reports.

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required.
