7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Department: Material Control - 138

Primary Purpose:

The Material Control Specialist is responsible for material planning for ARUP laboratory operations. With material requirements determined by the laboratory operations, this role will analyze and monitor inventory usage to assure material is available to meet needed requirements. Will use computer systems, demand and forecasting strategies, and order management with suppliers to maintain an uninterrupted flow of material while optimizing inventory levels.

Essential Functions:

Works closely with the laboratory operations to determine the material and inventory requirements for each lab and test.

Uses material forecasting systems and techniques to maximize product availability and minimize back orders while minimizing inventory-carrying cost.

Works with the warehouse to determine inventory requirements in the main warehouse and the satellite warehouses.

Utilizes computerized material systems to investigate inventory discrepancies and validate data integrity.

Works with all supply chain organizations and laboratory operations to provide professional guidance to ensure compliance with inventory-related cost and process standards.

Maintains daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inventory reports.

Oversees cycle counting in assigned laboratories

Expedites material and solves shipping and delivery problems.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements:

Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility: The person in this position needs to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Communicate: Frequently communicate with others.

PPE: Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures: To conduct self in compliance with all ARUP Policies and Procedures.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Fine Motor Control: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Vision: Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance

Qualifications

Education

Required

High School Diploma or Equivalent or better.

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree or better in Business or related field.

Experience

Required

Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business, supply chain or equivalent plus two years’ related experience Or high school diploma plus six years’ related experience

Preferred

Two (2) years’ Advanced Excel experience
Two (2) years’ demand planning and forecasting experience
