About the Role

The Demand Planner is a core supply chain function supporting the Director of Planning in forecasting, analysis, purchasing, and inventory management activities. This ideal candidate for this role is passionate about data analysis and relentless in searching for insights that will serve to optimize inventory productivity, capture upside potential, and insure maximum in-stock positions for merchandise presentations. This is a highly integrated position, interfacing with virtually every department internally, and with our dedicated sales force.

Please Note: Ariat's corporate headquarters will be relocating from Union City, CA to San Leandro, CA spring of 2023.

You’ll Make a Difference By

  • Managing the demand and inventory planning within the company’s fastest growing footwear businesses.
  • Designing and generating weekly and monthly statistical forecast reports.
  • Continuously improving forecasting techniques, method, and approach.
  • Relating and measuring the impact of forecast accuracy.
  • Evolving and maintaining documentation and standard operating procedures for demand planning processes and systems.
  • Conducting current and future forecasting analysis, insuring forecasting processes and methods are followed.
  • Assembling and analyzing all data pertinent to creating the sales forecast (historical sales, market trends, seasonality, door count, promotions, and tier 1 account POS and inventory levels).
  • Establishing and utilizing best methods (statistical models and software tools) in creating forecasts and respective inventory targets.
  • Making recommended adjustments to forecast and inventory targets based on changes in demand and market trends.
  • Leading forecast and inventory planning meetings with Product Managers, reviewing recommended sales forecasts and inventory goals (emphasis on brand transitions, new product introduction, and promotions).
  • Managing inventory targets (including safety stock levels) that are approved by management.
  • Preparing, reporting, and communicating forecast and inventory measurements to management (forecast accuracy, inventory plan vs. targets).
  • Monitoring SKU levels and recommend SKU rationalization initiatives in the future
  • Proactively facilitating, re-engineering, and creating best practices & consensus between functional experts (Demand & Inventory Planning, Purchasing, Sales & Marketing, Operations, Finance, and IT).

About You

  • Demand or inventory planning experience required. Background in retail or wholesale planning preferred.
  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or Statistics preferred in addition to 3-5 years work-related experience.
  • Experience with enterprise-level software application such as Cognos, Tableau, SAP/AFS and Vanguard’s demand and inventory planning.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and experience with large data sets are essential.
  • Enjoy math and have strong numbers and logic skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and computer skills are essential.
  • Exhibiting intellectual curiosity, a passion to learn and an ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Work well with multiple cross-functional partners, stating your point of view with confidence but also open to hearing others’ perspectives.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and is flexible and adaptive to changing priorities.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $88,000 per year.

The salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data for geographic locations. Ariat in good faith believes that this posted compensation range is accurate for this role at this location at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
