Culinary Instructor Job at CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF TENNESSEE INC
The Workforce Development Program at the McGruder Family Resource Center has an opening for a consulting position of culinary instructor. This is an ongoing consulting position that will instruct students on an 8-week program. Every 8 weeks, new students will enter the program and the culinary instructor will play a lead role in their success. This position will be located at Family Resource Center at McGruder at 2013 25th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing daily menus and learning plans for the 8-week training course and sourcing the menu ingredients.
- Maintain a learning environment where students are encouraged to as questions and implement the skills they are learning.
- Provide instruction that involves hands on participation from students while modifying instruction as needed to meet the needs of all students.
- Following the proscribed curriculum, program components, and learning objectives when planning and teaching lessons.
- Monitor the progress of students, keeping grade records, and keeping students apprised of their learning success and needed area of improvement.
- Provide data to the Program Manager in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS
- 3-5 years in a chef role experience
- Safe Serve Certified
- Instructing students experience a plus
- Ability to plan and organize work
- Ability to follow tasks through to completion
- Effective interpersonal skills including emotional intelligence, reliability, positivity, negotiation, empathy, and openness to feedback
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to create an environment where differences are respected
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 per hour
