The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office is currently recruiting its first Crime Analyst to join their team! This position conducts research and performs analyses of information and offers guidance for investigative direction in a particular crime or group of similar crimes. Work is performed under the general direction of the Investigations Captain.

Other essential functions include, but are not limited to:

· Analyzing and evaluating incoming raw data and correlating the information with pertinent existing data to determine if there is a criminal relationship;

· Utilizing databases, incident reports, jail data, and outside agency information in evaluation process;

· Designing and publishing analytical products using existing data to assist in the investigative process;

· Performing a variety of investigative and field support tasks including crime prevention, communication relation activities and directed patrol operation reports to assist in identifying crime problems;

· Collecting and analyzing calls for service by types of criminal and non-criminal activity, time of day, and day of week to include response times and makes recommendations;

· Preparing charts, graphs, link analyses, telephone toll analyses, timeline charts and other visual aids for presentations to investigators prosecutors and courts as needed;

· Conducting background checks and criminal histories on individuals and crime suspects and compiles data to assist investigators and provide investigative leads;

· Performing data inquiries, organizes data and presents data in a manner enabling investigators to conduct casework efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors’ degree with major course work in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Mathematics/Statistics or a related field with at least one year of direct law enforcement experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

Possession of Basic Law Enforcement Training, General Instructor, Firearms Instructor and/or Haz-Mat Instructor certifications upon hire preferred.

The chosen applicant must pass a criminal background check and driving history, medical exam, and a pre-employment drug test.

Salary

Grade 65: $53,493
