This rate includes $1/hr. institutional stipend
This rate does not include applicable night, weekend shift differentials, or Premium Overtime.

  • Starting Pay: $22.95/hr.

  • Base Premium Overtime Rate: $34.43/hr.

  • Voluntary Overtime Incentive*: +$9.00/hr. to the Base Premium Overtime Rate.

  • Voluntary OT incentive is currently available through at least June 30, 2023.
  • Shift Differentials: +$0.35/hr. 2nd +$0.42/hr. 3rd Shift.

  • Weekend Differential: +0.60/hr. straight time. +$0.90/hr. for Premium Overtime.

  • Merit and Longevity increases

Minimum Requirements to Apply:

  • At least 18-Years-Old.
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent (HiSET, GED, etc.).
  • Valid driver's license. - Prior to attaining Permanent Status: Maine State Driver’s License
  • No serious criminal or extensive motor vehicle record. See Automatic Disqualifiers.

Paid Training, Education, and State Certification, 100% funded by MDOC:
No prior experience necessary, all training provided to ensure your career success.

  • Six-Week paid ‘Basic Corrections Training Program’.
  • Completion of the Basic Corrections Training Course (organized and funded by DOC upon hire, location to be determined. Lodging provided if class is held at MCJA in Vassalboro and 50 miles from your residence – includes mandatory exposure to chemical agents)
