GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the supervision of and reporting to the Sr. Executive Assistant, the Corporate Paralegal will assist the GC/CRO with day-to-day legal support including corporate, regulatory and trademark filings, contract review and drafting, legal research, preparing materials for committees, and general corporate housekeeping matters as well as assisting the Executive Assistant(s) perform administrative duties as necessary. This position will require initiative, judgment, and independent decision-making, as well as serve as a proactive team member by volunteering and participating in events and committees while providing valuable input and suggestions. Additionally, this role will be required to address all tasks and concerns quickly and professionally while maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information. This position will be required to interact warmly and enthusiastically with employees, members, guests, and Board members and will be a crucial partner in accomplishing several projects and tasks that impact the daily operations of the Executive Team.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • With limited supervision, maintains corporate and trademark filings with appropriate governmental agencies.
  • Compiles, coordinates and maintains credit union contracts and contract maintenance using a structured digital and physical filing/record keeping system.
  • Assist GC/CRO with review and drafting of complex legal contracts, correspondence, resolutions and other documents. Assists with special projects, reports and presentations.
  • Conduct legal research particular to federal and state financial services statutes and regulations.
  • Provide on-going support to the GC as necessary.
  • Provide assistance to Executive Assistants as necessary.
  • Acts as a point of contact among executives, employees, clients and other external partners. Whenever possible, uses independent judgment to respond to inquiries based on knowledge of the Executive's preferences and availability, office functions and/or credit union policies and procedures.
  • Manages calendars, meetings, travel schedules and itineraries and expense reports ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Provides courteous and professional service to other team/department members in alignment with the Credit Union's mission and core values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by a member of the Executive Team or Sr. Executive Assistant.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education

    • Paralegal or equivalent work experience required; bachelor's degree preferred
    • Paralegal certificate preferred.


    Experience
    /Skills/Knowledge:

    • 5 years previous experience preferably involving transactional and corporate matters.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects/priorities simultaneously with an effective outcome.
    • Ability to deal with highly confidential information.
    • Must possess strong service orientation skills.
    • Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
    • PC proficient, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the Internet.
    • Ability to function in a commercial office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: fax, copier, telephone, etc. Some travel required. Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs. e.g. file boxes.
