The Hollywood Reporter is hiring a part-time Copy Editor. As part of the copy desk, the part-time Copy Editor is responsible for copyediting and proofreading pages for THR’s weekly and awards special issues at all stages of the production cycle. This includes doing initial copyediting of stories, working closely with story editors and writers to address queries and make changes, and collaborating with the art department to address changes to layouts. The ideal candidate has print editorial experience, works well under pressure, excels at multitasking and has a keen interest in/knowledge of the entertainment industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Copyedit and proofread stories at all stages of the production cycle.

• Work with editors and writers to address queries/changes from top editors and implement those changes in K4/InCopy.

• Work with the art and photo departments to address layout changes as needed.

• Prepare updated version of stories and present to top editors for final approval.

• Maintain accuracy and consistency on pages at all stages of production.

Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience copyediting for a print publication

• Knowledge of InCopy, InDesign and/or K4

• Knowledge of AP style, Chicago Manual of Style

• Collaborative team player who works well under pressure and can handle multiple assignments at once.

This position pays $35-41/hr.
