Quest House is designed to decrease the return to custody rate and significantly lower prison overcrowding, and the ‘revolving door syndrome’. The primary purpose of the program is to help the ex-offender in becoming self-sufficient and productive. Parolees are provided the opportunity and encouragement to change and grow.

JOB SUMMARY

The Cook reports to the Program Director and is responsible for cooking quality foods for the facilty in compliance with contract requirements for the program. The Quest House Cook is responsible for meal planning, menus and food purchasing. The Quest House Cook is responsible for the safety and sanitation of the kitchen and dining room.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare the meals at the facility for all residents, taste test food, and reserve sampling for contamination testing (24 hours).
  • Be responsible for food purchasing and proper storage, meal planning and serving.
  • Deliver and follow approved menus that meet all nutritional standards.
  • Supervise residents cooking or working in the kitchen/dining areas.
  • Ensure the sanitation and serving requirements meet the local health department requirements.
  • Develop written procedure for dispensing and retrieving all utensils during and after meals.
  • Will drive on Agency business as needed.
  • Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.
  • Comply with all Turning Point Safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to: workplace safety, reporting work related injuries, Infection Control and preventing potential safety risks for staff, clients and others.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at Turning Point. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees also are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours are disruptive and must be avoided.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma/GED and one (1) year experience in preparing quality and quantity food and/or culinary education.
  • Must have Food Handlers certification.
  • Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR preferred.
  • Ability to plan and prepare well-balanced meals.
  • Ability to follow the menu in preparing the daily food listed.
  • Basic to Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment health screen, drug screen and TB test.
  • COVID19 vaccination required prior to employment.
  • Must maintain good relationships with current, future and past employees, co-workers, vendors, third party administrators, and others with whom the Agency is transacting business, and relate to them in a professional manner.
