We have a great client who is looking for a Controls Manager in Oak Park, MI!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the vehicle controls software development team on topics related to energy storage
- Design and build the vehicle controls software, focused primarily on systems integration and tuning.
- Design and test vehicle controls algorithms, focused primarily on energy efficiency.
- Define, implement, and validate all relevant on-vehicle communication interfaces.
- Implement and validate communication interfaces between battery and off-vehicle equipment.
- Troubleshoot vehicle controls issues throughout the duration of testing and production
- Support the growth of the controls team by assisting in selection of talent, tools, and processes.
- Act as liaison between team of direct reports and upper management
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years of OEM or Tier 1 experience
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership role with 3+ direct reports
- Experience with in-vehicle software development and testing.
- Experience with model-based software design in Simulink.
- Experience with vehicle dynamics modeling and simulation.
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, SPI, etc.).
- Knowledge of and experience with version control software (GIT, SVN, etc.).
- Experience with production automotive software development.
- Able to work in shop environment when needed to support test bench and vehicle builds.
- Self-starting and ready to work with a small team in a fast-paced startup environment.
