Manages all activities related to transmission line construction. Provides leadership and guidance for field personnel including Supervisors, Construction Consultants, and Line Crews. Represents the Transmission Line Construction organization during project planning and execution. Responsible to perform or support public outreach, interactions with government agencies, customers, and other interests. Manages the organization’s safety programs, fleet assets, tooling, and work process to maximize safety and productivity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Directs field and office construction activities related to the transmission system. Lines of communications may include members of the Board, Council, Executive Management, political entities and/or influential members of the community for which tact and diplomacy are needed.
  • Interacts with developers, external (local, State and Federal) agencies, utilities, customer, shareholders, municipalities, various political entities, professional trade groups and interest groups involved with the Line Construction function.
  • Provides safety leadership within the transmission line organization and industry to assure employee and public safety.
  • Determines and implements appropriate resource levels for manpower, equipment and material required to accomplish the Line Construction function. Responsible for developing and tracking productivity and performance measures to accomplish short-term as well as long-term department/corporate goals and objectives.
  • Represents Line Construction on new major projects for line siting and public processes.
  • Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates department employees.
  • Contract development and control of contracted projects and material procurement. Provide project management for major electric system projects.
  • Develop and control capital and O&M budget.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Minimum of 8 years cumulative and progressive exempt level professional experience.

Additional Information

Requires extensive knowledge of transmission line construction and maintenance practices. Is responsible for interfacing with industry organizations to advance the state of practice at SRP. The employee may be responsible to support a 24 hour response to system emergencies.

Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
