Community Service Officer

Salary Range: $19.89-$29.84/hr. Full Time, Benefits, Pension. First Application Review: 12.15.2022, open until filled.

This position is responsible for the control and impounding of animals, in accordance with the laws and ordinances within the Town and is charged with the enforcement of such ordinances. Work normally consists of answering citizen complaints or requests for animal control, disposing of dead animals, patrolling the town as needed, day or night and related animal control work. Additional duties as time permits included duties as assigned by supervisors to increase the efficiency of police department operations. Further duties include community presentations and education regarding animal control issues, or assisting in other police department presentations.

Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.

Must be able to pass a thorough background investigation as stated in department policy which may include polygraph and psychological examinations

Must never have been convicted of a felony

Must possess, or be able to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.

Ability to become certified in animal euthanasia

Other certifications and licenses as deemed necessary by the police department to carry out the essential job duties

ESSSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patrols as needed or assigned looking for stray or dead animals, and sets traps as needed.
• Answers and responds to citizen complaints or requests for animal control work.
• May be required to issue citations for violations of the animal control ordinances.
• Patrol parks and Town properties and relay violations of ordinances or state laws to dispatch for officers to respond.
• Pick up abandoned property and other items of evidentiary value as assigned by supervisors.
• Traffic control and crime scene protection as assigned by supervisors.
• Assists with Town code enforcement as assigned by supervisors.
• Demonstrates community oriented philosophies and a willingness to work with others to increase the efficiency and customer service of the police department.
• Follows all police department and Town rules and regulations.
