The College Coordinator is responsible for executing all aspects of The Village School’s premier college preparatory experience and the Quest College Success program. This is a full-time and year-round position, Monday through Thursday, a half day on alternating Saturdays, and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings until 7 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow syllabus for Quest curriculum as well as bring new ideas to the Director for implementation.
  • Lead sessions and keep attendance for both TVS Seminars and Quest sessions.
  • Educate students and parents about colleges, the college admissions process, trends, procedures, and testing with support and information from the Director
  • Advise and support families, annually, as they go through the program; helping students and families aspire realistically and choose wisely.
  • Lead sophomore seminars to prepare students for the full college search and application cycle.
  • Advise 9th and 10th graders on curricular choices, as needed, and provide preparation for the college process.
  • Meet with college admissions representatives who visit our campus and facilitate meetings between college representatives and Quest/TVS students.
  • Work with the Registrar to maintain TVS Upper School student records, including GPA and transcripts.
  • Stay current on admission trends and changes and maintain a high level of expertise on colleges and universities often considered by our students.
  • Help to coordinate and administer or proctor on-site testing PSAT/SAT/ACT/AP.
  • Assist with coordination of on-site college fairs.
  • Monitor FLVS coursework for TVS students - following up with students if necessary to maintain adequate progress.
  • Monitor grades of both TVS and Quest students in math and encouraging tutoring if appropriate.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Proficiency with Naviance.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational ability and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be both direct and delicate in communicating with students and families about expectations, outcomes and decision-making.
  • Experience with the college admission process - from the high school or the college side - preferred.
