The Practice Educator provides support to new and established GP clinical and Patient Service Representative (PSR) colleagues with essential onboarding, orientation, training, and competency testing required to ensure high quality patient care.

This position serves as an educator, a clinical, and a patient services representative resource.

Assumes responsibility for a clinical competency program. Maintains instructor status for CPR, TB Validation course, and FIT Testing, and provides high level customer service and functional training for clinical and PSR Colleagues as needed. This position implements action plans and work processes to achieve compliance with network objectives and applicable regulatory requirements. Monitors quality improvement and risk management data to determine educational needs of specific practices. Coordinates the MedCerts program and the externship programs and their students. Facilitates practice assessment audits to ensure consistency in compliance with applicable laws, policies and regulatory requirements related to various clinical practices: including accreditations, certifications, DEA, CLIA, OSHA, and AAAASF standards. Maintains knowledge of, and can train, the Patient Services Representative positions.

Position Qualifications

• Minimum Education:
  • Medical Assistant (MA): Graduate of an accredited career/vocational school with a medical assisting (MA) degree, certificate or diploma.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Current license as Licensed Practical Nurse (or Licensed Vocational Nurse) issued by the Indiana Health Professions Bureau.
• Minimum Experience: Three years’ experience in a physician office setting.
• Preferred Experience: Five or more years’ experience in a physician office setting. Knowledge of CPT and ICD-CM coding. Teaching/training experience with documented results. eLearning authoring. Working knowledge of NextGen and/or Meditech Ambulatory.
• Certifications Required: AHA CPR certification. CPR Instructor Certification and TB Instructor Certification to be awarded within first 12 months of employment.
• Preferred Education: Hold an ASN or BSN diploma in Nursing. Current license as registered nurse issued by the Indiana Health Professions Bureau.
