Surgical Navigator Responsibilities
Pre-Op:
Introduce and aid patient in signing up patient for Recovery Coach
Manage Recovery Coach
Placing Surgeries in the Depot
Manage Surgical Calendar
Rearrange Surgical Calendar as needed for OR Days template
Contact patients for coordinating clearances
Be a point of contact for surgical patients
Contact providers for clearances, UTI treatment, etc.…
Participate in pre-Op visit and education
Construct pre-op folders
Check patient’s Labs, CT scans, and clearances for completion
Intra-Op:
Contact patients with arrival times and day of surgery instructions
Discharge education
Post- Op:
Manage post-op concerns and calls from patients
Nurse visits for incisional care
Manage Recovery Coach
Call post-op patients Day 1 from discharge
Coordinate first post-op visit
Contact Home Health Agencies as needed if concerns arise
Manage refill requests
