Responsible for collection/abstraction of data for clinical databases, utilizing clinical experience to monitor, analyze, and report data on SMC patient populations, including demographics, clinical information, treatment received, and outcomes. Review reports, identify trends in service and provider performance, initiate and design drill-down analysis, and support service designated quality and performance improvement projects. Provide data analysis and performance improvement consulting for large-scale healthcare quality assessment and improvement projects.

  • Independently collects and abstracts data for clinical databases, utilizing clinical experience to monitor, analyze, & report data on patient populations, & clinical outcomes.
  • Consults with managers, staff and providers to support improvement activities and organizational initiatives related to data elements. Coordinates electronic and manual points of data collections. Assists in developing new data elements as needed
  • Independently collects and abstracts data for clinical databases, utilizing clinical experience to monitor, analyze, & report data on patient populations, & clinical outcomes.
  • Knowledge of key abstraction and data processes to be an effective communicator with regional and system-wide stakeholders. Assists other team members in understanding the impact of workflows and practices on the data.
  • Critically examines identified data elements using data dictionary. Utilizes internal and external definition sources, such as registry or clinical resources to ensure consistent data definitions are being used. Coordinates & collaborates with clinical providers and operational leadership to identify the most accurate data definition
  • Highly skilled in using analytical tools and techniques to interpret complex data, identify trends and issues, and draw conclusions from data
  • Skilled in the use of CMS, Accreditation, and Regulatory standards. Independently reviews and communicates updates and necessary regulatory changes
  • Is a resource and guide to other team members and/or customers across the enterprise for the development of analytic and data solutions.
  • Assists the administrative and physician surgical leadership in defining and implementing quality improvement projects.
  • Effectively communicates highly complex analyses in a clear and concise manner and assists less experienced analysts in presenting data in a comprehensible fashion
  • Provides timely support to diverse set of stakeholders in interpreting and analyzing data
  • Strong presentation skills and can clearly and concisely articulate complex technical information and analyses for a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Acquires and maintains a thorough understanding of the clinical databases for which he/she is responsible
  • Able to independently coordinate and facilitate meetings with operational leadership, staff, and providers. Able to take minutes, create lists of action items, sends out necessary reminders, and create agendas. Follows through as needed related to meeting content
  • Participates in unit-based and organization committee/task force groups, ongoing quality improvement initiatives intended to improve clinical outcomes, and in unit staff meetings as needed
  • Highly developed problem solving and troubleshooting analytic capabilities to solve complex issues, identify opportunities for improvement and develop solutions

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in nursing, allied health sciences, applied behavioral science, or related subject.
  • 4 years experience in a clinical, or healthcare related setting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in nursing, allied health sciences, applied behavioral science, or related subject.
  • Current licensure and/or certification in Washington State appropriate to profession
