The DPGH provides crisis and intervention care for individuals who are identified as commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC), homeless, runaways, or otherwise in need of short-term shelter and care. The shelter home provides specialized services that meet the complex needs of CSEC as well as a safe environment conducive to healing from any trauma.

Position
The Child Care Worker (CCW) – Direct Support will play an instrumental role in caring for an individual DPGH youth. The CCW – Direct Support will be responsible for the direct supervision and care of an assigned client at the DPGH. Successful applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

The CCW- Direct Support will report directly to the on-duty FM

CCW-Direct Support is a part-time, temporary, position. Direct support staff will not be called in to work on days that client is not present at the facility. Direct support staff may be considered for long-term employment upon successful completion of temporary assignment.

Responsibilities
The CCW-Direct Support will be responsible for the daily programming, transportation, and supervision of a designated client at the DPGH.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • - Develop and institute daily routines (activities, meals, etc.) for client in accordance with applicable regulations and the DPGH Program Statement
  • - Assist assigned youth in her day-to-day routine and encourage youth to participate in programs
  • - De-escalate and redirect client toward applying effective coping skills
  • - Complete client progress notes and other required documentation.
  • - Escorts and/or arrange client transport to appointments and events as necessary.
  • - Perform upkeep of the DPGH facility and environment as requested
  • - Provide a positive, safe, and creative environment conducive for healing
  • - Promote a home-like environment that teaches youth independent living skills.
  • - Identify client needs and collaborate with DPGH staff members to connect client to services needed
  • - Work with the identified youth in an empathetic, nonjudgmental, client-centered, and trauma- informed manner

Qualifications
- Associates’s Degree (preferable) and a minimum of one-year experience working with youth.

- Associates Degree and minimum of two years experience working with youth
- Experience working with CSEC and at-risk youth.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to be self-motivated and disciplined.
- Excellent time management skills and abilities to multi-task and prioritize.
- Knowledge in software applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and

PowerPoint.
- Valid California driver's license with good driver history.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
