GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

The Excel Center Drop-In Center is designed to provide free childcare for the students of The Excel Center. The drop-in center is available when students are studying onsite or are in class and serves children up to age 12.

The Childcare Attendant assists in ensuring the safe and caring management of all the children entrusted to the drop off center. This includes monitoring children in the center, serving snacks, keeping the center clean and facilitating learning opportunities for the children while in their care. Additionally, the Attendant will assist in keeping parents informed of policies and procedures at the center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Facilitates hands-on interactive learning experiences working with children directly.

2. Assists in the registration process of children.

3. Updates and ensures accuracy of student files.

4. Maintains regular communication with parents regarding services, enrollment, scheduling or routine changes, and special events for the child(ren).

5. Assists in achieving of short- and long-term goals for the center.

6. Contributes ideas for the development and execution of the curriculum and program activities.

7. Participates in regular team meetings.

8. Keeps the center and school clean.

9. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Continuing Education in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred.

Qualifications

1 year experience in a childcare setting

Course work/training in early childhood development a plus

Child/infant CPR certified or willing to obtain

Has working knowledge of computer programs to perform clerical tasks: Google Applications, Outlook, Excel, Word and Internet

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must possess excellent customer service skills

Flexible, energetic, and detail-oriented

Able to juggle multiple duties

Able to resolve conflicts

Must be at least 18 years old

Must be able to pass a criminal background

Center Hours of Operation: Hours range from 8 AM - 4:30 PM
