Position Overview

The position as Director of the Center oversees the day-to-day activities and personnel within the food service area, fitness area, front desk, and aquatics area of the Robert “Bob” Harrison Wellness and Advocacy Center. The Director is responsible for marketing, membership intake, and program/curriculum development. The initiate coordinates and directs all functions within the Center to ensure compliance within all established guidelines. Work involves coordination both internal and external to the Center. In addition to daily oversight, the Director maintains all funds, coordinating and schedules of events, supervises staff and volunteers, and manages all reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiates and carries to completion all administrative duties as related to the Center activities.
  • Activities include front desk, conducting tours, developing a monthly calendar/program schedule for the Center, coordinating wellness and nutrition speakers for the seniors, membership growth and retention, pulling and submitting reports, maintain vendor and membership files, coordinating the rental of the facility, calling in work orders, coordinating volunteers to assist in various functions and requesting purchase orders to cover repairs and/or food requirements.
  • Oversees all business activities, including supervising all personnel, personnel actions, rental usage contracts, job descriptions for staff.
  • Supervises commercial kitchen and staff for seniors’ meals and special activities.
  • Maintains all funds at the Center, which are received from the daily lunch program, membership dues and rentals.
  • Develop and update all spreadsheets to track all monies received daily.
  • Submit reports and funds to District Six for deposit on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Prepares for monthly review of all receipt books as in accordance of Madison County auditing policies and procedures.
  • As required, plans, assigns, and reviews work of staff and volunteers.
  • Advises employees and assists in solving problems.
  • Oversees building and grounds maintenance including pool upkeep.
  • Ensures TRAMS are maintained in accordance with all guidelines and as required submit quarterly and annual reports to the State Transportation Department.
  • Coordinates all rentals to include scheduling the date, taking the deposits and final payments, and setup with District staff and customers.
  • Conducts presentations as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a college degree in Business Administration, Health/Social Services, Community Development
  • Three more years of experience in facility management.
  • 15+ years in Health and Wellness experience.
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
  • Familiarity and willingness to work with the elderly population
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately delegate responsibility with necessary authority without relinquishing his/her overall responsibility and accountability for the delegated task.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems in a timely manner, develop effective resolutions to those problems and ensure implementation of the proposed resolution, confirm results and revise as necessary.
  • Good knowledge of the principles and practices of administration and management.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting principles and practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan, organize, train and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to operate and utilize computer software.
  • Creative marketing skills.
  • Expert customer service skills
