The CASA Program Specialist III Position will assist CASA of Mariposa County in but not limited to: recruitment, training, retention of volunteer advocates, and case management. This individual will work strategically across the county to recruit volunteer advocates and will assist in training for these volunteer advocates. This individual will also oversee the day-today ongoing support of the CASA program. In addition, this individual will have increasing responsibility as they progress in their role at CASA of Mariposa County.


Program Duties:

  • Be knowledgeable on the National CASA standards within 30 days of hire
  • Be Knowledgeable on the Judicial Council Rules of the court 5.655 within 30 days of hire
  • Be knowledgeable on the National CASA brand guidelines within 30 days of hire
  • Oversee the development & distribution of recruitment materials across Mariposa County
  • Support day-to-day office operations including reception, record keeping, and general maintenance
  • Seek out and participate in on-going training opportunities to best serve the foster family population
  • Attend and participate in child abuse prevention activities & events held by CASA and other community partners
  • Participate in outreach events
  • Coordinate on-going training opportunities for the foster family population
  • Provide support to the CASA Program Specialist I and/or Program Specialist II with program duties
  • Working with Program Director, maintain relationships with all stakeholders to establish, revise, and implement program strategies for serving the needs of children in the dependency system
  • Provide program oversight to the advocacy program


Administrative Duties:

  • Create and maintain forms, files and documents related to the functioning of the CASA program
  • Assist in the facilitation of communication and dissemination of information between all Alliance Programs
  • Prepare grant reports for the approval of the program director
  • Track data and report for the on-going training needs of the foster family population
  • Create publicity and marketing tools for CASA program
  • Enter and track data needed for CASA. Ensure accuracy for data entry
  • Provide support to the CASA Program Specialist I and/or Program Specialist II with administrative duties
  • Keep Program Director informed of important case updates
  • Provide oversight to the advocacy program with administrative duties


Volunteer Support:

  • Recruit, screen and coordinate volunteers
  • Provide the 30-hour initial CASA volunteer training
  • Determine program needs and volunteer interests to find appropriate tasks and placements for volunteers with children & youth
  • Coach volunteers on efforts to establish a mentoring relationship with assigned youth
  • Coach volunteers on navigating the child welfare system and developing collaborative relationships with professionals involved in the case
  • Assist volunteers in the development of advocacy goals for the child
  • Assist volunteers in identifying services that are lacking in the child’s life
  • Assist with the preparation of reports for the Juvenile Court and the development of recommendations related to placement, education, medical needs, and the emotional and behavioral well-being of the child as appropriate
  • Maintain electronic case records and computerized data
  • Maintain frequent contact with advocates, providing coaching and advice tailored to individual case and volunteer needs
  • Ensure volunteer hours are documented and tracked
  • Coordinate and oversee on-going training opportunities for volunteers and staff
  • Volunteer appreciation
  • Support the CASA Program Specialist I and/or Program Specialist II with volunteer support duties
  • Oversee volunteer support


Office Support:

  • Provide coverage of office and phones, as needed


Other Duties:

· Participate in planning, coordinating, and attending agency wide staff meetings and trainings · May be required to provide transportation to counseling, medical appointments, etc. · Other duties as assigned


Requirements
:

Knowledge of:

  • Office Equipment Operation (phone, fax, copier, etc.)
  • General Administrative Principals
  • Extensive experience working with children and abuse victims
  • Experience in coordinating services
  • Knowledge of child abuse and the child welfare system and/or experience in volunteer management
  • Knowledge of community services addressing the needs of at-risk children and families.
  • Computers and Software Programs (Word; Excel; Internet)

Ability To:

  • Be accurate, reliable, punctual, well organized, careful and thorough
  • Strong in both oral and written communication techniques and interpersonal skills
  • Work effectively with limited supervision and work well with co-workers in a team atmosphere
  • Shift gears to meet immediate needs and deadlines
  • Prioritize work and exercise good judgment
  • Demonstrate comfort and expertise in operating computers and other technology
  • Dress and behave professionally in a court of law
  • Occasionally work in the evening or on weekend days
  • Ability to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities in an ethical manner and follow the policies of the organization.
  • Ability to organize, set priorities, take initiative and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to successfully pass a formal background check

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma
  • Experience working with children and/or young victims of abuse
  • Leadership experience in a professional or volunteer role
  • Must complete the CASA 30-hour initial training within 30 days of hire
  • Must maintain 12 hours of continuing education yearly
  • Must complete the Training of the Facilitator course date TBA
