Job Description

Department: Campus Security Department

Supervisor: Chief of Security

Work Area: All property owned or leased by College

General Description:
Performs routine duties of Security Officer and other activities under the direction of the Chief of Security.

Duties:
1. Routine patrol.
2. Liaison with Mars Hill Police daily.
3. Walking thru every academic and support building each shift.
4. Support Student Life in administration of safety protocols inside Residence Halls.
5. Provide for the general welfare of students and faculty/staff, respond to the telephone and radio for calls.
6. Issuing parking violations.
7. Crowd control and parking for special events.
8. Handling calls for assistance.
9. Opening and closing of buildings, locking and unlocking each day as needed.
10. Keeping office area and patrol vehicle clean.
11. Reporting, documenting and investigating incidents that happen on campus.
12. Taking bank deposit.
13. Picking up mail.
14. Perform other duties as directed by Chief of Security.

Responsibilities:
1. Maintain security of campus keys.
2. Economical use of supplies, care and use of equipment.
3. Maintain excellence in the quality of work performed.
4. Keep up with work demand.
5. Cooperate with other employees to promote efficiency and morale of department.

Minimum Requirements:
1. Good physical and mental health.
2. Ability to understand and follow directions, either written or oral.
3. Must have initiative and good judgment.
4. Appear for shifts wearing daily uniform. Must be neat in appearance at all times.
5. Must be able to lift 40 pounds, walk a minimum of two miles, and climb up to four flights of stairs.
6. Present an up-to-date physical examination showing to be in good health and physical condition.
