SUMMARY: The Campus Safety Officer will provide security services by enforcing campus policies and procedures, responding to and de-escalating incidents, participating in incident investigations and completing all reporting requirements. This position reports to the Manager of Campus Safety Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Patrol of the Dean College campus.

• Enforce campus community safety policies and programs.

• Identify and record safety issues during patrols.

• Respond to incidents and complete reports.

• Report safety concerns and incidents to the Manager of Campus Safety Services.

• Complete all required shift reports in a timely and thorough manner.

• De-escalate situations whenever feasible.

• Protect departmental assets.

• Provide escorts on campus when requested.

• Perform miscellaneous responsibilities as needed such as dispatching.

• Participate in incident investigations as required.

• Assist other campus entities as requested

• Assist at school sponsored events

• Special projects and assignments as business dictates

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED

• Previous experience in the security or related field

• Excellent customer service skills

• Effective communication skills, oral and written

• Attentive to detail with strong observation skills

• Ability to remain calm under pressure and de-escalate situations

• Technical ability in utilization of CCTV and alarm monitoring systems

• Thorough understanding of the security operation

• Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.

• The employee is frequently required to listen or talk.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
