Job Purpose & Position Overview

The position is located in the Business Office at the WCHS Twelve Clans Unity Hospital and is under the direct supervision of the Revenue Cycle Coordinator. The primary function of the Business Office Manager is to assure an efficient and timely system of billing and collections of health care resources, accounts receivable, precertification, admissions, resource management and training. The purpose of the position is to manage, evaluate, analyze and provide oversight of a comprehensive health care alternate resource program.


Specific Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to subordinate staff to help ensure that trust accounts are managed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Establish work priorities, conduct performance evaluations, provide instruction to employees on technical work performed, resolve employee complaints, and identify staff training needs.
  • Perform a wide range of administrative duties; i.e. budget, expenditure plans, facilitate equipment and other purchase and procurement requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance and direction on programmatic activities relating to or affecting assets held in trust, beneficiary trust functions and other miscellaneous trust matters as well as administrative functions.
  • Assess achievement of program objectives and recommend improvements to address operational and/or compliance issues.
  • Recommend new and innovative ideas, approaches and solutions to complex problems and unique issues that affect the organization's ability to properly fulfill its fiduciary trust obligations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other organizations that provide services; work with governmental and/or non-governmental counterparts to resolve disputes or impasses.
  • Perform periodic program reviews; develop and coordinate efforts to build consensus on the establishment of policies and procedures; train and implement the new devised policies and procedures.
  • Implement internal control standards for the monitoring and management of trust assets and the level, quality and responsiveness of trust services provided to WCHS to ensure the protection and preservation of trust funds.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelors degree preferred in an area of Business or other related field and 2+ years of applicable experience, or a combination of education and experience
  • Skilled in practical use of electronic systems
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
  • Knowledge and experience that demonstrates the ability to multi-task, while prioritizing work and providing options to solve problems while still meeting program objectives.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing new methods, techniques, and criteria for fiduciary trust management functions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.


Cognitive Requirements:

  • Reading, writing, calculating.
  • Excellent social interaction skills.
  • Ability to reasoning, understand and analysis project data.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team.


Language Requirements:

  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.


Certificates, Licenses & Registrations:

  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.
