Position
Business Development and Operations Associate – Indianapolis, IN
Job Description
The Business Development and Operations Associate will support the
commercialization efforts and strategic growth initiatives for the company including
business development, sales, and marketing functions within the organization. This
position will report to the Associate Director of Business Development and works
closely with the BD/Marketing team to help develop, manage, and drive new
business opportunity initiatives, sales processes and activities, and marketing
outreach efforts. We are looking for a creative, customer-focused, resourceful, and
disciplined professional who will ensure timely development, processing, execution,
and follow-up of contracts, proposals, agreements, change orders, and contract
extensions.
Responsibilities include:
Business/sales development -
- Directly interface with external clients, resources, and businesses
- Attend client scoping meetings and take detailed notes, as assigned
- Provide research support to identify, qualify, and generate new lead
- Generate and manage incoming leads, as assigned
- Draft proposals, contract letters, and other communications and notices,
- Assist in optimizing and monitoring Key Account and Client Retention
- Participate in business/sales development-related special projects as
- Assist with and support marketing efforts
- Support the company’s overall Business Plan and development,
implementation, and continuous review of the Business Development
Strategic Growth Plan
Business/sales operations -
• Maintain and update client contract (e.g., CDAs, MSAs, etc.), 1099,
- Review, assess, and process client-initiated contracts and agreements
- Assist and provide support at any step in the BD proposal process to help
ensure timely execution and follow-up of RFPs responses, contracts,
agreements, change orders, and contract extensions
- Ensure that all records are accurate and up to date
- Data entry and report generation (CRM tool)
- Develop and administer a system to track status and follow-up on open
- Develop job aids, process maps, and SOPs as needed and actively
- Provide and analyze data for BD/Marketing Dashboard and key metric
- Assist with competitive and business intelligence and marketing efforts
for the company
Skills
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (science or business preferred)
- Business development, sales, and/or marketing experience required (client-
- Life science or hi-tech industry work experience preferred
- Team player with proven capabilities in collaboratively working on complex
- Sound facilitation and negotiation skills with ability to ensure internal-
- Strong organizational, planning, project management, and tactical execution
- Solid analytical and critical thinking abilities
- Innovative problem solver
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (i.e., Excel, Word,
- Web content management platform and CRM experience preferred
- Must be able to work independently in a fast pace, rapidly changing
environment
• Salaried, part- or full-time (minimum 3 days/week) position
- Occasional networking events evenings/weekends
- Travel up to 25% of time for trade shows, customer visits, and other events
- Work performed in corporate headquarters in Indianapolis, IN
