Morrison is seeking a Bilingual Education Assistant with some youth experience to join our team and help youth in our Residential Long-Term Home!

All positions at Morrison have been deemed Healthcare Providers and must comply with Oregon's COVID Vaccine Mandate. Proof of vaccination is required for all employees.

About the Program:* ORR Immigrant Youth Services - LTGH

Our Long-Term Home provides services to up to 20 adolescents at one time (ages 14-17 years old) in a co-ed residential facility setting. The youth, typically from Latin America and occasionally other countries live in our Long-Term Group Home, while they await family reunification or other placement options. They attend public school and other community activities.

Job Summary:*
The Education Assistant works in the classroom to assist the Teacher with educational programming. This position completes education assessments, completes ongoing progress reports on a regular basis, and transitions the client’s educational records to the client’s following placement.

The ability to maintain composure during stressful situations is crucial competency in this position. We see each team member as an invaluable part of each youth’s success during their stay. Bilingual capabilities are a requirement for this position, as the Education Assistant must be able to communicate with residential youth in Spanish. Speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish required.

What will you be doing?*

• Works with teachers to provide educational support and behavioral management in the classrooms. Completes documentation in a timely manner.

• Collaborates with Teachers on lesson planning and curriculum development

• Completes ongoing progress reports and uploads to the client’s electronic health record

• Completes the Education Assessment with 72 hours of the client’s admission to the program and uploads to the client’s electronic health record

• Contracts client’s previous facilities/educational institutions, etc. for transferable credits.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:*

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

• At least 21 years of age

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required

• Basic computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, databases and Outlook

• One year of youth experience

• Bilingual Spanish abilities (verbal communication skills)
