Position Summary:

Manages and coordinates technical elements of stage production for all events at district auditoriums and cafetorium’s. Works closely with venue and district staff as well as outside user groups of the district owned performing arts centers to produce stage productions including lighting, sound, video, and staging. Ensure that all elements of the performance run smoothly.

Essential Functions:

1. The Auditorium Stage Manager is responsible for the management, maintenance and supervision of all activity on stage and backstage in the Alberta Kimball Auditorium located in West High School and all other district auditoriums (50%)

a. Assist OASD teachers, coaches, music and drama directors with facility equipment and setup as needed and schedule staffing for all school events as necessary.

b. Manage, maintain, and supervise all on stage and back stage activity by OASD and outside user groups.

c. Prepares work schedules and assigns personnel to meet production plans.

d. Correspond with user groups regarding scheduling, technical and equipment setup needs, and/or other issues or concerns that may arise.

e. Responsible for the setup and strike for all scheduled activities and performance at the Alberta Kimball Auditorium include, but not limited to: risers, upper and lower shells, music stands, chairs, podium, A/V screens, props, sets, etc.

2. Provide consultation in the maintenance and supervision of all district auditoriums (20%)

a. Provide consultation in the maintenance, operation, and supervision of the auditoriums.

3. Responsible for all equipment, electrical hook-ups, staging and related facilities to ensure they are utilized in a safe and maintained safe condition (20%)

a. Ensure that facilities are safe and operational.

b. Prepare work orders for repairs and installations as necessary.

4. Responsible to ensure that the auditorium and staging is utilized within the prescribed building codes (5%)

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

1. Associate degree in Theatre Arts, Management or Technical Theater.

2. Minimum of two years of experience in technical theater management.

3. Familiar with theatrical sound, lighting, and rigging systems.

4. Effective oral and written communication, including interpersonal skills.

5. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

6. Must be able to work independently and cohesively with others.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts, Management or Technical Theater.

Physical Requirements:

1. Work normally performed in professional theatre. Requires working in tight spaces, under low light levels and at heights. Exposure to electrical wires.

2. Moderate physical activity. Requires occasional lifting up to 15 lbs. or transferring of objects up to 30 lbs., kneeling and reaching.

3. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Work Environment:

1. Individuals may work afternoons, nights, and weekends depending on when production and/or rehearsals are scheduled. Work may be performed in dim locations, tight spaces, and various degrees of height.
