Your Role:

Are you seeking a data analytics career with purpose? This engaging analyst role is part of the Audience Insights & Analytics team within the Audience Development department at APMG. This position contributes meaningfully to the organization by examining and analyzing 1) broadcast radio audience data, and 2) national donor data to discover new insights leading to organizational excellence, efficiency, and growth. In this role you will consult with and provide reporting, analysis, and actionable recommendations to a variety of departments including Membership, Major Gifts, Distribution, Underwriting, Audience Development, Marketing, and Finance. This position primarily supports nationally distributed programming and services including Marketplace, The Splendid Table, and APM Studios’ podcasts. This role may occasionally work on broader initiatives that involve Minnesota Public Radio (MPR).

Compensation Range: $26.09 - $39.14/hour. Exact hourly rate determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, geographic location and internal equity.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic business expertise by serving as the subject matter expert for APM national programs on matters regarding both radio audience and donor intelligence
  • Responsible for prioritizing and fulfilling national data and analysis requests to support key business partners. Apply continuous improvement practices.
  • Partner with manager and colleagues to identify new ways to support decision making for audience growth and increased revenue generation
  • Learn to lead analytics projects from start to completion. Collaborate to prepare, interpret, and translate complex analyses. Present unbiased findings and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Query and mine large data sets to discover patterns, examine data, troubleshoot discrepancies, and develop new analyses to help the organization better understand its members and audiences
  • Fulfill list requests for operational fundraising activities including direct mail, email, telemarketing – guide teams on targeting approach to increase response.
  • Measure and evaluate fundraising campaign effectiveness that informs future campaigns
  • Support annual revenue projections process and track performance metrics
  • Provide support for predictive analytics projects
  • Develop proficiency with a variety of data platforms and reporting tools including Cognos Analytics, Act 1, Tableau, Salesforce, etc.
  • Work as a team to develop, apply, and maintain standard data and reporting practices to ensure accuracy and consistency across reports; guide/coach other analysts
  • Maintain documentation of reporting requirements, procedures, and business rules
  • Supports cross-training efforts and provides back-up for team members as necessary
  • Foster an audience-centered, cooperative, welcoming, and productive work environment
  • Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of donor information
  • Other duties, as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an information intensive or analytical field of study OR equivalent work experience
  • Two or more years of applicable data and analytics experience

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Experience with Tableau (or similar data visualization tool)
  • Experience with data reporting applications and/or programming languages
  • Experience working within a CRM environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to recognize and interpret patterns and anomalies in data
  • Proficient in data extraction, blending, reporting design
  • Demonstrated experience with several reporting tools and data platforms such as IBM Cognos Analytics, Tableau, Tableau Prep, MS Excel, Power BI, Salesforce, NPSP, Raiser’s Edge, etc.
  • Well-organized, with exceptional attention to accuracy, detail, and follow through
  • Strategic mindset - understands the impact of analysis work and findings on business processes and goals. Ability to incorporate this knowledge when developing recommendations for business teams
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to synthesize and deliver insightful information to influence business decisions (advisor)
  • Ability to develop strong professional relationships based on inclusion, trust, and collaboration
  • Ability to establish work priorities and manage workload autonomously
  • Comfortable taking on unfamiliar work and seeking out knowledge/solutions
  • High degree of integrity, ethical decision-making & sound business judgment
  • Ability to learn new applications as required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of non-profits and fundraising strategy
  • Working knowledge of Nielsen audio data and broadcast radio rating metrics and methodologies
  • Experience with broadcast radio partners and/or data applications including RRC, ACT1 Systems, Tapscan, Marketron, etc.
  • Database management/data hygiene
  • Familiarity with statistics and predictive modeling concepts
