Hogan Lovells US LLP seeks an innovative and detail-oriented legal recruitment professional to join the Associate Recruitment Department. The manager will work primarily with the Director of Associate Recruitment and the Associate Recruitment team to develop and manage national recruiting and outreach activities for law students, develop and maintain relationships with national law schools, work with fellow managers to develop recruiting strategies appropriate to each office in the region, and lead the planning and execution of the national aspects of the summer associate program. This position will also collaborate on special projects and recruitment initiatives as assigned. This position can sit in any office U.S. office with a preference for Washington, DC.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Law Student Outreach & Recruitment:
  • Develop and manage law school outreach including sponsorships, mock interviews, “Meet the Employers” and other school programming for national law school efforts.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of national law student outreach programming, including planning topics, soliciting lawyer participants, drafting and sending initial and follow up communications about the program for students, tracking student rsvps and attendance, and sharing student information with team members for pipeline purposes.
  • Manage school teams initiative – developing criteria for school teams, establishing goals and plans for the teams, and staffing & leading select school teams.
  • Serve as primary contact to develop and build relationships with law school career development offices for assigned schools.
  • Manage budget for outreach activities.
  • Develop communications for outreach programs
  • Develop and oversee participation in outreach technology initiatives such as Forage.
  • Work with Director and Associate Recruitment Operations team to prepare law student recruitment statistics, reports, and presentations to firm management
  • Register for and coordinate on-campus interviews, job fairs, and other recruiting events at select law schools. Prepare OCI materials for interviewers, coordinate and track follow up activities, and keep school teams informed of status updates.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to report on recruiting outcomes which may include compiling and analyzing metrics, reviewing survey results, preparing statistical reports, and updating school summaries.
  • Communicate with other Associate Recruitment Department members to share market intelligence and to incorporate information into broader department initiatives.
Summer Associate Program
  • Oversee the planning, organization and execution of unified or national aspects of the Summer Associate Program.
  • Oversee the drafting and posting of summer associate job postings on firm website and with law schools.
  • Develop communications for summer associate program to be used by team members.
  • Develop and maintain timeline for summer associate program planning for use by Associate Recruitment Department.
  • Work with operations team to set up summer associate assignment & evaluation systems.
  • Prepare draft offer letter templates for team members’ use.
Diversity Initiatives
  • Manage Department role in Hogan Lovells Diversity Scholarship program.
  • Manage our relationships with, and participation, in diversity pipeline programs, inlcuding SEO, LCLD, Move the Needle, and others as assigned.
  • Manage relationships with law school affinity groups
  • Stay abreast of trends, market intelligence, and current best practices with respect to diversity initiatives in student recruiting.
Other Responsibilities
  • Work with Associate Recruitment Operations Manager to respond to surveys regarding law student recruitment.
  • Advise on best practices and trends in law student recruitment.
  • Oversee the updating and organization of recruitment information, including informational reference materials for internal use by firm personnel.
  • Stay abreast of changes in firm policies and procedures as they apply to the attorney recruiting and onboarding processes and implement changes as needed.
  • Participate in the planning and development of social media strategies as relates to student and entry level recruitment.
  • Supervise, manage, and mentor recruiting staff, including training, coaching and providing performance feedback.
  • Prepare law student outreach and recruitment information for use in development of department budget.
  • Participate in volunteer activities as outlined in the firm’s Global Responsible Business program.
  • Work collaboratively with Associate Recruitment Department members to support other functional areas, special projects and general department administration as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Associate Recruitment.

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Ability to build consensus, exercise discretion, and maintain confidential information, as well as exercise good judgment and flexibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with a service-oriented approach. Have ability to communicate and interact effectively with candidates, all levels of firm personnel, and a variety of external entities in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to manage, organize and implement detailed and complex projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Experience working in Symplicity (law school recruiting and communications tool) and an applicant tracking software required, viRecruit or LawCruit is preferred; experience with Workday (human resources application) is preferred.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five plus years of experience in legal recruitment, with 2+ years of legal or campus recruiting experience at a law firm or other professional services environment preferred.
HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Must be flexible to work additional hours.
