Creative Business Innovations is looking for a great entry levelAssociate Engineer candidate for an automotive supplier. This position is direct hire with the client company.

Description

Lead and develop new equipment and processes as well as optimize process flow using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma techniques applying engineering principles, practices and procedures in a high volume automotive parts manufacturing environment.

Tasks of the Position

  • Lead, instructs and coordinates the work of the plant manufacturing engineering activities and implements innovative, cost effective manufacturing processes and techniques, which will improve the effectiveness of the manufacturing operations and business systems. Should be focused on product quality & process development such as balancers, etc…
  • Develops prototypes, builds new equipment and processes for new/existing products.
  • Develops schedules and completes activities for projects and process & productivity improvements.
  • Develops and submits for approval new investment proposals for the facility.
  • Interfaces with the customer Product and Development Engineers to discuss engineering problems related to product design and manufacturing processing.
  • Responsible for equipment procurement, run-off, pre-pilot, pilot, capability studies, control plans and measurement system analysis.
  • Actively participates and supports the Continuous Improvement, Cost Reduction, and Associate Involvement processes.
  • Provides technical expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing process and product design problems.
  • Serves as a resource for cause/effect analyses, investigations, statistical studies, and problem solving analysis.
  • Integrates closely with customer, maintenance, production, and quality teams to maximize product quality, production output, and schedule compliance.
  • Maintains product quality and manufacturing effectiveness through daily troubleshooting and resolution of process difficulties.
  • Providessupport managing manpower, cost, schedule, job sequencing, manufacturing capability and production optimization.
  • Optimizes manufacturing processes to provide sustainable gains in cost effectiveness and product performance through statistical analysis, designed experiments, and procedural changes in support of production and new model activities.
  • Participates on multi-functional teams (Production staff, New Model, R&D) to resolve problems and develop new production processes.
  • Starts up new products and equipment (supervise installation, troubleshoot initial production processes, and ensure new products meet requirements, document and transfer to production).
  • Works with customer to resolve technical/quality issues and provide special products.
  • Participates in activities to include 5S, Kaizen, Quick Hits, Six Sigma, and other related continuous improvement events.
  • Develops and implements the latest State of the Art technologies to improve profitability and Health, Safety, and Quality
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Technical know-how typically able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Possesses and applies considerable knowledge of Engineering principles, practices and procedures.
  • Reviews equipment vendor’s capability and make recommendation for the selection of vendors based on sound evaluation analysis.
  • Knowledge of computer systems; spreadsheet software and Word processing software, familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Six Sigma training / certification and lean manufacturing knowledge desired.
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Tasks that require continuous reaching, kneeling, grasping, twisting, bending, leaning and extension of upper body.
  • Perform job requirements of a Production Associate as needed.
  • Ability to communicate with station operators and upper management personnel.

Job Requirements

  • Safety apparel (PPE) and uniform mandatory.
  • Work daily assigned shift to include overtime, up to and including production Saturdays, shutdown days, and holidays as needed.
  • Perform job requirements of a Production Associate as needed.
  • Tasks that require continuous reaching, kneeling, grasping, twisting, bending, leaning and extension of upper body.
  • Follow all company policies including ISO 9001 2008/ISO 14000 and QOS adherence (where applicable) and company associate handbook and safety manual.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Systems Engineering.
  • 0-3 years prior manufacturing engineering work experience
  • 3-5 years engineering experience welcome but not required.
  • Experience in preparing investment proposals, job quoting, cost justifications and capital planning desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $27.00 per hour
