Working with our internal and CMO partners, this position utilizes physics, engineering, and chemistry principles, coupled with a diverse materials science understanding to evaluate, design, qualify, and implement packaging designs and their associated systems with a continuous improvement mindset. A strong knowledge of common materials utilized in pharmaceutical and bio-pharmaceutical packaging is required.
Essential Functions:
In conjunction with the Director of Packaging Engineering and Labeling:
- Represent the Commercial Supply Chain organization and provide a high service level to internal stakeholders (e.g., Commercial Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, CMC, Planning and Logistics). This may require meetings at odd hours.
- Support our Packaging CMO’s in launch efforts, pack design and specification, MBR development, process improvements and troubleshooting to assure smooth execution of packaging.
- Work with Global Supply Chain to understand product demand requirements and ensure alignment in assigned teams to deliver qualified pack designs to planned timelines.
- Work with product development teams to assure packaging design for developmental products follows agreed packaging standards to assure efficient processing at the commercial level.
- Develop the organization and strategy for our package development documents (specifications, technical assessments, development protocols and reports) utilizing the Veeva system and manage the system moving
- Manage and execute Change Controls related to packaging.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position may include the supervision of consultants/contractors or junior level engineers in the future.

Education Required:
Masters’ Degree in Packaging Engineering or similar life science and 8-10 years of directly related experience preferably within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering, or similar life science degree required 10+ years of directly related experience preferably within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
