Position Overview:

The Associate Director, Therapeutic Training will evaluate needs and implement specific training/educational programs for the Sales Force, as well as internal customers. This position is accountable for assisting with the development and execution of training programs, both live and virtual, that consistently allow for the demonstration of a high level of competence for new and existing sales representatives. This individual will expand programs to advance the performance levels and professionalism of all field force team members.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Work in collaboration with the Sales & Marketing Teams to develop educational programs for strategic and tactical business applications.
  • The candidate will work closely with the Sales and Marketing Teams to successfully implement tactics supporting the Product Strategic Plan. They will provide input for the design, development, and implementation of workshops conducted at national/regional meetings as well as all virtual training events. In addition, the candidate will evaluate market research and industry trends on effective training mechanisms.
  • The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and facilitating live and virtual training courses for new hires and existing field force team members.
  • Assist the Commercial Learning and Development team with the delivery of materials for educational use for key customers, both internal and external and with input from the Sales and Marketing Teams. These may include monthly informational updates, training workshops, and requests from Sales & Marketing for internal training purposes.
  • Participate in key task forces that will impact the success of all field force team members as identified by the Director of Commercial Learning and Development.
  • Assess, recommend, and purchase courseware packages and support the development of appropriate courseware tools.
  • Document and track all training deliverables and assess for content, compliance, and instructional design integrity and adjust as needed.


Skills/Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, with a concentration in Business and/or Science preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a progressively successful career, preferably sales and/or training experience in the pharmaceutical/medical industry.
  • Experience must include previous pharmaceutical/medical sales to healthcare providers and should include demonstrated training/mentoring skills.
  • Knowledge of the relevant therapeutic space is highly preferred.
  • Because of the degree of sophistication required in this position, the candidate should possess highly developed communication and platform skills.
  • The candidate should possess technical capabilities, including but not limited to, Microsoft Teams and other tools used in virtual training and selling.
  • The candidate should have proficiency in Microsoft office software.
  • Hands-on knowledge of e-Learning and authoring technologies, such as Articulate, and multimedia applications with demonstrated knowledge of the issues and implications of distance learning is preferred.
  • This role will require 30% percent of travel during the work week as well as some evenings and weekends.


Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Occasional travel within the United States and Canada. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Frequently interacts with others, and relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues.
