Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to support premium agencies in order to grow Markel business. The ABDS will be responsible for improving agency relationships and growing premium production through educating and forging positive relationships with assigned agents. This role requires employees to drive on a regular basis. Employees in this position are encouraged to maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable DMV Motor Vehicle Record which will be pulled on an annual basis for verification.
  • Implement and support business strategies for a select group of Northeast agents
  • Increase Markel brand and awareness in the form of new business submissions, cross sell and upsell opportunities
  • Be a resource for agency partners, build new and expand on existing relationship and educate on how to navigate our products and portal platform
  • Work with underwriting partners to facilitate new business opportunities
  • Influence agents to move business to Markel
  • Stay current on product, market, and industry knowledge
  • Find ways to grow current agency's book with multiple product offerings from Markel while retaining profitable business
  • May assist on special projects
  • Travel expected in assigned region
Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience in admitted underwriting, business development or sales
  • Proven technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of growing responsibility;
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and skilled presentation aptitude;
  • Technologically savvy; proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, risk assessment and time management skills;
  • Must be a team player that enjoys a flexible and spontaneous business environment;
  • Flexible to travel when appropriate.

The base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.
