Position Title
Non Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Chemistry Fall 2023

Job Responsibilities
Position: The Department of Chemistry at Truman State University has at least one full-time, one-year, non-tenure track appointment beginning August 2023. This position is ideal for candidates who want to build a record of teaching in a liberal arts environment.
Responsibilities: Successful candidates will provide classroom instruction in introductory chemistry classes, courses that support the liberal arts and sciences, as well as in upper-level chemistry courses. The ability to teach across chemistry sub-disciplines is beneficial for the position.

Program: The Department of Chemistry is part of the School of Science and Mathematics at Truman State University. The Department has 15 faculty members, and approximately 140 undergraduate majors in Chemistry and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program, graduating approximately 25 American Chemical Society – certified B.S. chemistry majors yearly. The Department, in conjunction with the Department of Biology, introduced a new Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major beginning Fall 2018 and graduated its first major in Spring 2020. In addition, the Department provides classes to support more than 600 biology, agriculture, and health-related majors. The Department also offers courses in the Dialogues, Truman’s liberal studies core curriculum, and opportunities for faculty members to pursue interdisciplinary teaching and research exist within the School and as part of the Dialogues. Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Ph.D. (completed by the start date) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Applicants will be evaluated on academic qualifications; support for the liberal arts and sciences mission of the University; teaching philosophy and experience; demonstrated potential for success in teaching chemistry courses; evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills; and compatibility with the department’s needs.

Salary
Starting salary is $50,000.00 for a 9-month contract.
