The Hardy Corporation is a Mechanical Contractor and Plumbing operations with over 75 years of service and experience. Hardy has an opportunity for an experienced ASSISTANT CONTROLLER ACCOUNTANT to join our team, reporting to the Controller.

Responsibilities for this position will be:

  • Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
  • Preparing journal entries, analysis, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly/quarterly / Year-end close processes.
  • Assist with year-end Audits.
  • Assist with posting of cash receipts received by the company and apply to jobs correctly, including collections.
  • Account for and proof new job setups – including both the contract and estimated costs.
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly tax returns for multiple states
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts
  • Preparing quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Verify that the customer contract information is entered correctly, including the original contract and any change orders.
  • Update, post entries to, and reconcile General Ledger accounts and Sub-Ledger accounts as requested.
  • Contributing to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
  • Maintaining documentation for accounts payable, purchasing, and treasury and conducting internal audits.
  • Preparing weekly cash projections.
  • Meeting processing and reporting deadlines.
  • Responding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with audits.
  • Ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Timely escalation of problematic accounts to appropriate management.
  • Assisting the controller as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Good problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Willing to adjust for departmental workload changes.
  • Ability to work efficiently and multitask.
  • Experience with Spectrum software a plus.
  • Construction Accounting background preferred.
