Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated, experienced, outgoing EHS Coordinator to join our team. This position will be based in our Chicago Heights & Bedford Park IL plants. The candidate will have multi plant responsibilities for Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk Management matters and affairs. Conducts inspection of plant and equipment to determine hazards or conditions, which might be in violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations. Serves as safety instructor for the advancement of the Plant Safety Program and the prevention of plant injuries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Investigates accidents and complaints regarding unsafe working conditions in the Plant.
  • Report and manage BWC claims with insurance companies.
  • Represents management at Company/Union Safety Meeting along with the other Personnel and Plant personnel. Serves as liaison between management and Production and Maintenance employees in the daily administration of the Safety Program.
  • Checks machinery, equipment, operations and plant areas for hazards; recommends actions to correct/eliminate conditions which might be in violation of OSHA Standards. Performs monthly clean up and safety inspections and compiles and distributes applicable reports.
  • Coordinates the correction of potential OSHA safety violations with Department Superintendents, Plant Engineering, Maintenance Superintendent and foremen.
  • Accompanies the OSHA compliance officers with the Manager, Personnel & Labor Relations or his representative on the inspection of the Plant.
  • Conducts training classes for hourly and supervisory employees on all aspects of safety training in the plant. Prepares class outlines, maintains attendance records, and schedules classes via coordination with Department Superintendents.
  • Maintains all Safety and Safety Training records in accordance with ISO 9002 requirements.
  • Orders safety supplies, materials, signs banners, posters, etc., with approval of the Manager, Personnel & Labor Relations.
  • Performs Environmental, Safety and Hygiene tests, audits and reporting as required.
  • Performs additional safety duties as directed by the Manager, Personnel & Labor Relations for the effective management of the Plant Safety Program.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum of three years in direct or related work related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Other Skills and Abilities: Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, established programs, etc. Must be able to conduct classroom training.

Must possess a valid driver’s license for business travel, such as, customer visits, to attend required meeting, seminars, etc.
