WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are currently recruiting for the position of Machinist Apprentice/Journeyman. This position will be headquartered in Laurel, Montana and will be responsible for diesel mechanic duties on locomotives, including daily inspections and troubleshooting.

The Apprenticeship is a two-year training opportunity in the MRL Mechanical department. We are also considering Journeyman level Machinist candidates with railroad experience.

LOCATION: Laurel, MT

PAY RATE: $23.86 to $28.89 dependent on Journeyman's experience

• Desire and ability to learn the FRA guidelines specific to this craft

• Diagnostic tasks, inspecting, testing, and repair as applicable to facilities and diesel/electric locomotives

• Able to operate various machine tools and equipment associated with this work

• Machinists are subject to working various shifts with the possibility of rest days being scheduled on non-weekend days

• Self-motivated, yet able to work with close supervision until journeyman status is attained

• Available to work all shifts

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Carded Journeyman Machinist preferred

• Aptitude and interest in learning locomotive servicing and repair

• Proficient communication skills necessary to maintain record of completed repairs

• Self-motivated, yet able to work with close supervision during training

• Team player with a positive attitude

• High school diploma or equivalency

• Valid Driver’s License
