POSITION TITLE: After-School Program Teacher Floater
SCHEDULE: Typical school hours are 3:30-6:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

POSITION STATEMENT: The After School Program Teacher Floater supports the school community in providing a safe and nurturing environment to all students after the school day ends.

Duties include

Provide after-school support at varies locations within San Antonio and Seguin.

Arrive promptly daily to prepare for student arrival;

Clean up aftercare area at the end of each day;

Initiate activities with the children that are age appropriate providing a variety and range of complexity based on student population;

Prepare afternoon snack for students;

Assist children in transitioning from the school environment to after school environment;

Ensure the safety and physical well being of the children at all times;

Help maintain an environment that meets or exceeds state health, fire and childcare requirements;

Care and maintenance of classroom materials ensuring an clean and orderly environment both before arrival and after departure of children;

Caregivers should be actively engaged with children while maintaining their role as supervisor of aftercare;

The following tasks are expected of the Aftercare assistant:

o Sweep floors
o Turn off lights and fans
o Lock doors
o Wash table tops
o Store after care materials/supplies daily

Professional
 Phrase directives positively when guiding children;
 Assist parents with communications with school;
 Collaborate with staff to ensure after-school programs works effectively
Communication
 Report incidents involving injury of a child at once by completing an incident form
 Help maintain a positive school environment through student, parent and staff relationships characterized by mutual respect and goodwill;
 Inform Program Manager of child behavior issues for discussion with classroom teacher and/or parents;
 Notify Program Manager immediately of personal or professional difficulties with children, parents or staff members.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to set and /or humid conditions: outside weather conditions: extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
