Overall Responsibilities:
Develops and leads improvements for new and existing manufacturing processes and systems. Utilizes continuous improvement and engineering principles to improve, safety, quality, delivery cost. Principle areas of focus will be automation, line balancing and workflow.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Initiate and lead new process development projects using a team approach.
  • Initiate and lead process improvement efforts throughout the facility.
  • Champion automation projects to reduce risk and improve throughputs.
  • Design and evaluate process and fixtures needed for manufacturing.
  • Develop control parameters for new and existing processes
  • Create process flow diagrams and drawings as required.
  • Utilize enterprise system to facilitate manufacturing process development.
  • Utilize project management skills to maintain an appropriate level of project control with respect to project budget, project timeline and resource allocation.
  • Use mathematical modeling, testing and other tools to verify, validate or assess process capability.
  • Ensure that design for manufacturability has been incorporated as part of all new product developments projects (Product Innovation Process).
  • Create and maintain the required level of control with all engineering documents. Included in this are:solid models, drawings, engineering procedures, engineering work instructions, engineering standards
  • Help ensure accuracy, completeness and the suitability of all Engineering Change Requests that implicate product design and process flow.
Characteristics and skills:

Educational and other requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • An excellent grasp of engineering and manufacturing principles
  • Demonstrated ability and proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent modeling software
  • Relevant experience with MS Word, MS Excel, ERP, Project, CAD, and document control. systems
  • Five years of directly related experience
  • Good administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team – as appropriate
  • Automation experience including manufacturing line development and robotics training
  • Expertise with ERP systems (JDE is a plus)
  • Must have a passion for safety, workplace organization and continuous improvement with a high level of skill in Lean Tools and Lean implementation.
  • Knowledge of Automation and Process Integration
  • Proficient with computer systems and software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-Point, Outlook – Email.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate others, maintaining a persuasive and credible presentation style at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it, such as identifying defects in the production line.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Thirty percent travel with ability to overnight for up to two weeks at facility locations throughout the US and Mexico
  • Must be able to lead complex projects with limited oversite
