Admissions Counselor - Lyon College seeks a dynamic individual to serve as an admissions counselor. As an integral part of the Enrollment Services component, an admissions counselor reports to the dean of admissions and is responsible for an assigned student recruiting territory and develops, secures approval of, and implements a recruiting plan to achieve the College’s enrollment objectives. Applicants should have strong written and oral communication skills, be able to travel extensively, and be able to work night and weekend hours. A bachelor’s degree is required as well as a valid driver’s license.

Some job responsibilities include:

• Develops, secures approval of, and implements a recruiting plan to achieve enrollment objectives.
• Actively engages in enrollment funnel conversion.
• Manages territories for first year students.
• Achieves enrollment goals for assigned recruitment area
• Reviews and recommends admissions decisions for applicants.
• Engages in extensive travel, on behalf of the College, for recruitment and other college related events.
• Makes presentations to individuals and groups, both on and off campus.
• Develops and maintains close working relationships with key constituents.
• Conducts campus visits and tours for prospective students and their families.
  
• Night and weekend hours required as needed.
• Develops and maintains knowledge of relevant features of the College, including academic and co-curricular programs and knowledge of the admission profession and its organizations, strategies, values, techniques and skills.

Lyon College is a private, selective liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). It is located in Batesville, Arkansas, a safe and historic town of 10,000 that serves as commercial, medical, social, and governmental hub for an eight-county area. The College currently enrolls almost 700 undergraduate students from 25 states and 11 foreign countries. Entering freshmen have an average high school GPA of 3.5 and an average ACT composite of 24.
