BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY
The AP Accountant will work under general to limited supervision to conduct and document routine AP transactions, manual journal entries, account reconciliations, analyses and complex calculations, process, and system improvements, monitor and maintain automation processes, generate monthly reports and provide customer service to accounting, operations and vendors as needed.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree required - Accounting/Finance preferred

EXPERIENCE

• SAP experience a plus
• 2-3 years Oil and Gas accounting experience preferred

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop an understanding of the principles, theories and concepts of accounting and apply them to assignments such as preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
• Develop and apply an understanding of system/process automation
• Oversee and support excel macro’s that assist with invoice automation
• Monitor automation daily to ensure process is running as expected
• Provide support to operations and accounting teams as needed
• Assist in Open Invoice workflow maintenance which includes master data and user data setups
• Assist in monthly/daily reporting over invoice workflow data
• Provides support to team members on complex tasks and projects
• Assists in identifying, developing, and implementing process efficiencies and enhancements
• Other duties as assigned
  

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Microsoft Excel – Expert to Advanced preferred
• LEAN Six Sigma certification a plus
• Able to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities/tasks and manage deadlines
• Moderate/Advanced technical ability in Microsoft Excel
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and oil and gas accounting; thorough knowledge and skilled application preferred
• Able to communicate current health of process and automation clearly and concisely
• Planning, organization, and prioritization
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Evaluates and recommends solutions based on technical analysis; ability to identify and diagnose problems preferred
• Demonstrates initiative in developing technical skillset and knowledge base
