Responsible for the care, training, husbandry, and enrichment of all animals at Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch. This is a safety sensitive position.

This position is responsible for giving educational programs throughout the day on our open to the public days and during our field trips scheduled throughout the week. Applicant must be comfortable handling a variety of animals for public programs and live shows. Care giver will help assist in training and caring for all animals located at Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch.

This position prefers a minimum one year of experience working with exotic animals, but not required. An Associates or Bachelors degree is also preferred but not required.

Preferred applicants will have experience with public speaking. Emphasis is placed on guest interactions, so applicants must be very comfortable handling animals and speaking to the public.

Pay based on experience. Also, to be noted this is the starting pay. We offer raises based upon perforamance and ability that is shown during your time with us.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Regular hands-on animal presentations, providing informative keeper talks

· Offering behavioral enrichment Completing daily records and general zoo visitor interaction

· Maintain communication with supervisors and other team members.

· Observe animals and report health or behavioral related issues to supervisors and veterinarians

· Perform exhibit maintenance and cleaning. Fresh water and cleanings daily.

· Prepare animal diets and medications if needed.

· Feed and administer medication as directed

· Interpret animal behavior and make decisions appropriately with supervision of the Director of Animal Care

· Keep records of daily animal husbandry

· Participate in animal restraint, moves, and transport operations Conduct tours as assigned. Public speaking is required Participate in continuing education meetings

· Adhere to all OSHA and USDA regulations and guidelines

· Follow all policies and procedures of Sharkarosa Wildlife Ranch

· Other duties as requested

Minimum Qualifications:

· One year's experience in the care, husbandry and training of a variety of animals is preferred, but not required.

· Must be able to walk, stand, bend and reach.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

· Must be able to work outdoor in ALL weather conditions. RAIN, SNOW, HEAT, WIND.

· Must be able to read, write and speak in English

. Must be available Monday-Friday

· Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation. Also be willing to operate Sharkarosa vehicles (Tug, tractor, gator and truck)

· Must possess quick reflexes and be able to react quickly to changing animal situations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
