POSITION SUMMARY

The Soccer Sports Coordinator is a part- time position responsible for overseeing and organizing youth soccer program, schedule referees, scorekeepers and other staff. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.


HOURS: Various hours during the day hours/nights/Saturdays.
PAY: $15.54

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1) Recruit, train and supervise volunteer coaches alongside the Sports Director.

2) Supervise & schedule practices, games and all personnel required at each event, including filling in as referee for games when needed.

3) Organize and implement the sports registration process, including promotions, assigning teams, and managing the computer database.

4) Communicate positively and effectively with all participants, volunteers and staff, including timely response to phone calls and requests for information.

5) Develop and maintain all sports fields.

6) Maintain all sports equipment in good playing condition.

7) Substitute for subordinate employees as necessary.

Minimum qualifications: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • High school completion not required; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to parents, children, coaches and other employees of the organization. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all segments of the community. Ability to resolve conflict between all combinations of staff, volunteers, participants and parents.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • CPR/AED, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen training required upon hire and must remain current throughout employment.
