Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Barge Cleaning and Stripping Operations

  • Identify cargo contained in the barge set for cleaning
  • Determine where cargo is to be transferred based on cargo type
  • Prepare the dock or facility side for loading/discharging liquid petroleum cargoes as per facility loading instructions. This includes performing a line-up of pipelines, opening/closing valves, and connection/disconnection of transfer hoses and loading arms.
  • Connect and disconnect cargo hoses to facilitate the safe transfer of liquids
  • Continuously monitor transfer utilizing float gauges, maintaining documentation of cargo transfer history
  • Operate vapor combustors for conventional and pressure barges Set up ventilation equipment to dry barges and clear piping
  • Inspect barges ensuring they cleaned to customer specifications
  • Accurately complete all associated paperwork

Vessel Fueling Operations

  • Deliver fuel, lubes, and supplies to marine vessels
  • Receive deliveries of fuel, lube oil, and supplies via truck
  • Load trucks with used oil
  • Maintain accurate paperwork associated with fuel deliveries and sales
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of fuel, lube oil, and supplies

Facility Maintenance includes but is not limited to:

  • Upkeep and repair of pumps used to transfer cargo
  • Inspection of hoses for wear and failures
  • Inspection of tanks and truck rack
  • Inspect rainwater for clarity and discharge

Janitorial Duties includes but are not limited to

  • Clean the bathroom in the office
  • General cleaning around the office
  • Cleaning around the grounds

Security Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Familiarize and understand the facility security requirements
  • Continuously monitor for security concerns
  • Barge inspections for suspicious items
  • Monitoring the access gate and granting people entry.

Safety Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Be trained in the use of all necessary Personal Protective Equipment. The job requires the use of a respirator on a daily basis (NO FACIAL HAIR).
  • Follow all safety requirements and training as required by Kirby
  • Report all incidents to supervisors
  • Report all near misses
  • Understand and utilize Stop Work Responsibility

Education:

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Physical Activities & Requirements/Qualifications Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must pass physical designed to test for the ability to work in conditions specific to this job
  • Ability to drive company vehicles (Valid Texas Driver’s License required and Annual Defensive Driving renewal)
  • Must be capable of occasional heavy lifting/lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • General computer skills

Working Conditions:

  • Work a rotating schedule which includes day & night shifts. 12-hour shift.
  • Additional hours may be required to cover absentee workers
  • Ability to work outside in extreme elements and climate changes
