The Warming Center operates from November 2022 to April 2023.

Summary:

This position provides administrative and client support upon activation of the Warming Center. This per-diem position is in collaboration with the Ulster County Department of Social Services. This position requires and individual to be available on assigned shift(s) in the event of inclement weather conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Answers telephone, greet. and supervise all clients in the center.
2. Enter client information into the Apricot database.
3. Assists in the set-up and breakdown of the warming center. (i.e. setting tables, handing out bedding, and person items)
4. Observing for subpar health conditions and contacting emergency medical services for people that present as not well.
5. Work compassionately with the Clients and maintain a friendly and inviting environment in the warming center.
6. Ability to participate in evening and weekend work assignments, if the center is activated during this time.
7. Ensure participants adherence to rules, especially related to behaviors that are unsafe. If necessary, notify public safety personnel when a client need to exit the center for inappropriate or unsafe behaviors.
8. Effectively resolve conflict among participants and de-escalate unsafe situations.
9. Maintain daily paperwork and report all incidents to warming center coordinator.
10. Meets with the warming center coordinator upon activation to prepare for assignment.

COVID-19 considerations:
Masks are provided at all work sites; hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, etc., as well as procedures in place if a Resident tests positive for COVID.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Ellenville, NY: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• preferred human services: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• CPR Certification (Preferred)
