Warehouse Lab Assistant (Part Time) Job at FOOP Organic Biosciences
FOOP Organic Biosciences is a specialty organic plant food manufacturing company, located in Silver Spring and North Bethesda, Maryland. FOOP utilizes a patent pending formula derived from reclaimed fish poop as an alternative to chemical-based fertilizers.
Please note - this is more of a warehouse environment than a clinical 'lab' - it is messy, loud, and hotter/more humid than a regular office (since we have to keep the fish aquaria warm). Also, the lab work requires some heavy lifting of ingredients/equipment, so candidate must be able to lift at least 50lbs safely.
Position Responsibilities:
- Basic lab skills such as accurately weighing out products, mixing components in various size containers using a variety of tools, including an industrial (15 gallon) orbital mixer
- Conduct pH testing and other environmental tests
- Record results accurately
- Ability to follow the scientific method, repeating tasks with accuracy
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 1 year of work experience in laboratory environment (such as school / college lab classes)
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Must be punctual (on-time) and have own reliable form of transport
- Team player: flexible, adaptable, and able to work in different settings
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Does not mind getting a little dirty
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be located in DMV area
- Ability to read and speak English
- Ability to handle physical workload (lift 50-pound packages)
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment
