Position Description:
Leads the Information Technology function for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) in Arizona and Maryland. Responsible for developing and implementing a strategic technology plan to align with and help achieve the company strategic plan. Defines and solves user requirements and, utilizing Information Technology Team, develops and implements computer applications and solutions. Partners closely with business areas to ensure IT support services are timely, effective, and efficient. Oversees information management services for the company to maximize the effectiveness of data collection, processing and reporting. Ensures compliance with PCI standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial – Sustains growth through financial stewardship & fiscal responsibility.
  • Reviews system performance to evaluate productivity levels, operating costs, and maintenance needs, and adjusts as needed.
  • Develops compelling business cases involving significant hardware and software upgrades and presents them to executive leadership for approval and planning.
  • Negotiates with vendors on behalf of the company to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  • Drives process improvement and cost savings initiatives through evaluating current processes, identifying best practices, and developing plans to reach goals and implement improvements, continuously developing tools/systems and automating processes.
  • Ensures operating costs are managed to budget.
Customer & Community – Collaborates with customers to understand and deliver customer’s needs & expectations.
  • Strategizes with IT Team and other departments regarding information processing, storage, and retrieval to determine how to meet both enterprise and department needs.
  • Ensures strong partnerships with affected departments when large projects or company-wide initiatives need to be scheduled and executed.
  • Builds and manages strong working relationships with Team Members and external vendors.
  • Ensures that operational reports are accurate and effective in helping business areas manage company operations.
Operational Excellence – Implements strategies to maximize resources and infrastructure.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the operation of the Information Technology Services Department, including the strategic planning of resources.
  • Establishes and maintains comprehensive security plan and protocols to protect company data and systems.
  • Oversees development of schedules for implementing needed upgrades on computer, network, and telephones.
  • Partners with business areas to ensure proper change management and timely communication of technology projects, outages, and upgrades.
  • Implements and maintains an effective and appropriate IT governance model based on the evolving needs of the company.
  • Establishes IT performance metrics to help drive operational excellence and desired user experience.
Team Goodwill – Promotes a culture that embraces growth & development to meet the needs of our Team.
  • Stays abreast of information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of Team Members.
  • Utilizes company’s succession planning tools to ensure appropriate bench strength for current and future talent needs within IT.
  • Actively participates as a member of the company’s Senior Leadership Team.

  • Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology required, Masters’ Degree preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in Information Technology required.
  • Extensive experience as the manager, architect, and lead technologist for the full life cycle of system development.
  • Extensive experience in database architecture, data design, data modeling, and database management.
  • Broad knowledge in the definition, design, configuration, and management of infrastructure services. ITIL certification strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of desktops, servers (Windows and Linux), databases (SQL Server, MySQL), network (LAN, WAN, SD-WAN), security, email, directory services, file services, and telecommunications.
  • PCI certified, or willing to become certified within the role.
  • Proven experience with Cobit IT Governance Model.
  • Experienced as a Managed Service Provider (MSP) and/or experience setting up multiple business lines.
  • Background or technical knowledge of software development processes.
  • Solid background and technical knowledge of management and deployment of mission critical database systems.
  • Proven leadership experience over both teams of people and technology functions.
  • Record of success in developing and nurturing technology vendor relationships.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning at both the enterprise level as well as specific business area.
  • Proven project management experience, particularly of enterprise-level projects; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus.
  • Positive and effective interpersonal skills in working with Team Members at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple demands and priorities. Strong attention to detail.
  • Valid drivers’ license with clean MVR.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
