Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.20 per hour and considers preferred experience and preferred education described below.

Location: Home office location – Corporate – Durango, CO


Description of Responsibilities: The Virtual Care Support Specialist will promote and improve individual and community health by supporting patients in accessing virtual (telehealth) care. The individual in this position works with the patient and their care team to facilitate access to integrated care through telehealth, starting with supporting patients during in-clinic appointments, introducing patients to telehealth options, providing technical support for patients engaging in telehealth, and finally, facilitating the telehealth visit to ensure the patient has access to all elements of the integrated care experience.


Supervisory responsibilities: No


Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. AHS may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Travel required: Yes, 50% - regional travel consists of travel between office and community sites to meet with patients.


Required Education, Certificates and Experience:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years of experience providing health care support to patients and/or experience in information technologies

Preferred Education:

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in social work, information technologies, behavioral health, or a health-related field.

  • Must be knowledgeable regarding patient health information and HIPAA compliance.
  • Must be organized and demonstrate the ability to follow guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be self-directed.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow the organization’s confidentiality and security rules.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively
  • Skill in using computer and other electronic office devices
  • Skill in providing exceptional customer service to patients, staff and all others contacting the clinic for assistance
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Knowledge of community resources, medical and behavioral health resources
  • Knowledge of record keeping practices and/or healthcare documentation in an electronic health record
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, to recognize solutions and refer patients appropriately
  • Ability to assist patients with accessing the patient portal, navigating telephonic, audio and visual virtual care platforms, remote patient/vitals monitoring, and other technology
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities
  • Ability to perform mobility requirements of the position
  • Must recognize the confidential nature of the work and meet professional confidentiality standards
  • Ability to be flexible in carrying out diverse job duties
  • Ability to use Electronic Health Record and document interactions effectively
