The Opportunity

As the Vice President of Global Marketing, you are responsible for the development, establishment, and maintenance of the global marketing and communications vision and strategy. You will be responsible for enhancing and refreshing Abt’s global brand. As VP of Global Marketing, you will manage the Marketing & Communications Team across multiple geographies. You lead the planning, branding, and execution of all external integrated marketing strategies and programs aligned with the company’s strategic plan to build visibility, awareness, and understanding of Abt’s mission and brand – and ultimately drive Abt’s growth. You will be focused on ensuring successful marketing strategic planning, messaging, and brand consistency execution as well as leading and optimizing marketing efforts, client campaigns and collaborating with multifunctional teams to execute them. You will also ensure Abt’s communication strategies and editorial content have global reach and align with Abt’s strategic plan. You will drive company level messaging and branding and ensure alignment and congruence with Division/market/offering specific messaging and branding.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Overall leadership of Global Marketing and Communications Department, including Marketing Strategy & Brand (inclusive of Embedded Marketing Partners, External Communications/Editorial, Conferences & Events), Creative Services, and Digital Marketing.
  • Oversees the development of the corporate Marketing and Global Communications Strategy, Planning and Branding and executes projects and initiatives that supports the short and long-term business strategy for Abt Associates.
  • Shapes the brand positioning and narrative while targeting key markets and audiences, balancing global development and US domestic business needs.
  • Optimizes global marketing organization and operating model to ensure strong Marketing & Communications support and engagement across geographies, time-zones, markets, Abt Divisions and Portfolios. Serves as primary senior point of contact for international marketing needs and demand.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams in U.S. offices, the Australia and United Kingdom (UK) offices and field teams overseas to ensure the brand remains relevant to employees, clients, and stakeholders and that all initiatives support the brand promise.
  • Develops and refines the company’s core messages to ensure brand consistency of corporate messaging throughout all communications and across all channels globally, as well as key executives’ social media presence.
  • Ensures corporate communication standards are adhered to in all materials and provides guidance on appropriate applications of standards to all types of communications.
  • Provides strategic and tactical support for the promotion of the brand and generates innovative ideas to promote our brand.
  • Develops media outreach strategies that position Abt Associates as a trusted resource for reporters covering the issues we work on.
  • Primary media relations point of contact and ability to act as company spokesperson.
  • Acts as an internal consultant to management on communications standards and issues. Determines best responses to media inquiries, identifies press release opportunities and helps to identify appropriate communication sources for communications issues.
  • Builds relationships with influencers, journalists, and media outlets.
  • Establishes and monitors metrics to track, measure and report against media outreach goals.
  • Analyzes sales and marketing key performance indicators (qualified leads, conversion rate, brand awareness, etc.).
  • Uses customer feedback to ensure client satisfaction and connects user behavior with a viable marketing strategy.
  • Serves as a strategic partner to portfolio and capability leaders, and Executive Leadership Team on key marketing strategies, and monitors and communicates key outcomes and barriers
  • Liaises with the business development, marketing, and communications teams to provide analysis, insights, and recommendations to develop customer marketing and advertising strategies and campaigns.

What We Value:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of experience, or Master’s and 12 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing marketing and branding strategies
  • Understanding of Business to Government marketing and branding strategies
  • Experience leading and managing multiple teams
  • Successful track-record shaping brand positioning and narrative, ensuring global brand consistency and editorial standards that work across a complex, global organization.
  • Record of accomplishment of exceptional interpersonal skills; able to build relationships and work cooperatively with internal and external groups, including executives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills delivered with a confident, persuasive, and inclusive style.
  • Proven public relations expertise, both in pitching and placing stories and growing relationships with media and other external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment of project management, leadership and team management skills and strong attention to detail
  • Creative thinker and data-driven experience working with business development, marketing and communications teams with strong analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of lead generation
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in, Microsoft Office Suite, Atlassian software, Cision and Meltwater, and other industry-related CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and content management software

What We Offer:

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $213,000 to $260,000, and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
