Starting Salary Range $142,000 - $154,000 Annually (Management Salary Band 6)

Salary/Compensation Statement:

  • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in a field related to the work of student affairs and services.


Required Experience:
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative/leadership experience in student affairs and/or student services in education.

Position Purpose:
Reporting directly to the President, the VP will be a highly visible, accessible, and approachable leader who will be the College’s leading voice on matters related to proactive student engagement, health and wellbeing, and enrollment management to provide an environment conducive to student learning and success. The Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) will provide transparent, collaborative leadership and administrative direction to the divisions and departments within the Student Affairs. This position is dedicated to building community and advancing the goal of student success. Working closely with the departments within Student Affairs, the VPSA will lead efforts in proactively, efficiently, and seamlessly supporting student needs and breaking down systemic barriers to success, ensuring that Lane Community College (LCC) make sustainable progress toward student success objectives with the the LCC Strategic Plan. The VPSA will serve on the President’s Cabinet and act as an advocate and champion for all students while building on the College’s many successes, leveraging institutional resources, and cultivating strong leaders in the office of Student Affairs.

Essential Functions:
  • Provides management and leadership for Student Affairs, including Recruiting & Admission, Financial Aid, Mental Health & Wellness Center, Student Health Clinic, Articulation and Transfer, Enrollment Management, Concepción “Connie” Mesquita Multicultural Center, Gender Equity Center, Student Success, Center for Accessible Resources, Student Standards and Conduct, Advising, TRiO/TRiO STEM, Athletics, Student Government, International Program, and the Veterans Center.
  • Augment the student experience in close partnership with Academic Affairs to foster more seamless student services, reduce equity gaps for current students, recruit and retain student populations currently underserved in Lane County, and enhance student engagement and support.
  • Serve as a visible advocate for students while ensuring a supportive, inclusive campus environment.
  • Build the trust and respect of a team of passionate student affairs and enrollment management professionals, and inspire and support them in providing a transformational student experience.
  • Creatively and intentionally steward financial resources.
  • Promote and facilitate the integration of Lane Community College’s Core Learning Outcomes (CLOs) into curricula and the assessment of student learning at the course, program, and college levels.
  • Ensure the implementation of the College’s Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunities concerning policies, goals, and timetables in assigned areas. Ensure staff development on diversity, inclusive climate, and respectful learning and working environment issues.
  • Ensure the college engages in an effective system of evaluation and assessment of its programs and services, wherever offered and however delivered.
  • Conduct an effective, regular, and comprehensive assessment of student achievement at the college-wide level to evaluate clearly identified program goals or intended outcomes for student recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Ensure department direct reports are participating in student assessment and meeting accreditation standards.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.

Supervision Statement:

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
  • This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors.
  • This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day.
  • This position may work with individuals who may be in crisis, have difficulty tracking, or in need of mental health support.
  • Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
