Kennel/Room Assistant
We are looking for a Veterinary Kennel/Room Assistant to care for our furry patients and keep the building clean. You’ll play an important role in bringing comfort to our furry patients and ensuring the smooth running of our facility. This is a part-time position with rotating shift that will require some Saturday mornings. Do you love animals? Then you’re halfway there. If you’re organized, self-motivated and quick on your feet, we’d like to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Clean cages
- Clean examination tables and rooms
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility
- Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the veterinarian.
- Help in cases of emergencies
- Escorting patients and their owners to the examination room by priority
- Keep accurate records and logs
- Reassure clients that their pets are being cared for
Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Current or former pet ownership is an advantage
- Patient and caring personality
- Ability to follow instructions properly
- Comfortable being around cats and dogs
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lifting, standing, kneeling)
- High school diploma; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus
